About

Jazzy’s Dream of Hope, Inc. is a non-profit organization that has been established in honor of Jasma Lynae Powell; “Jazzy.” Jazzy is a 5-year-old princess who passed away due to kidney cancer, a Wilms tumor. The organization seeks to serve the married and/or single parent(s) and siblings of children who have been diagnosed with or transpired due to any form of pediatric cancer. As an organization that endeavors to be a source of agape love, healing, faith and hope we will come alongside the parents and siblings with grief and counseling support for a period of 6 months to 1 year and help strengthen them in their faith to help them navigate through this crisis. We will partner and collaborate with church leaders and ministries with parents, organizations that support families and children and encourage them to partner with us as we offer grief and counseling support services that nurture grieving parents and families.

JAZZY’S STORY

Jasma Lynae Powell “Jazzy” was born on October 22, 1990. In September of 1994 Jazzy was diagnosed with kidney cancer; a Wilms tumor. The impacted kidney was surgically removed. She then went through a round of chemotherapy and subsequently radiation treatment. Her team of medical doctors and oncologist informed our family that they weren’t sure if the cancer had impacted her lymph nodes. Jazzy went into remission for a period of 8 months after the chemo and radiation treatments. However, the following year the cancer returned with a vengeance.
